System Pavers Donates Paving Stone Patio to Local Garden

The Elk Grove Community Garden and Learning Center (EGCG) has rooted themselves in service for the local suburban neighborhood of Hampton Village and beyond. For over a decade, generous groups of volunteers have joined together to repurpose the untended field of weeds into a flourishing garden that helps promote sustainable living through gardening. Elk Grove Community Garden and Learning Center continues to invest in the community by teaching families how to be successful in the garden through workshops and classes. EGCG provides gardening plots to local residents for harvesting fruits and vegetables. The garden has been a huge success; each year the nonprofit organization donates approximately 5,000 pounds of excess produce to the Elk Grove Food Bank for families in need.

Today, families in the neighborhood and local gardening enthusiasts celebrate the 10 year anniversary of EGCG with the unveiling of a new paving stone patio donated by System Pavers in Sacramento. “Elk Grove Community Garden is a true asset to the community and we are proud to show our support with a new paving stone patio. The legacy they lead will not only impact this generation but future generations as well. We’re grateful to be a part of the celebration.” says Ila Barot-Oldakowski, Marketing Director at System Pavers. EGCG’s new paving stone patio addition will provide a play area for the children’s garden. The children’s area features a human sundial, playhouses, and their own garden beds for elementary gardening.

The Elk Grove Community Garden and Learning Center, hopes to see the garden continue to grow. Through the continued love and support of the surrounding neighbors and community, EGCG has become a home away from home for many of the visitors.
