Grilled Corn & Oak-Aged Chardonnay

Soak some un-shucked ears of corn in warm water for about 10 minutes; then toss them on the grill.

Cover and cook for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally until its charred to your liking. Once done, simply peel, slather on some butter and salt and enjoy.  A chilled glass of chardonnay will make your tastebuds pop with every bite of delicious golden corn.

Perfect Portobello Mushrooms & Pinot Noir

With its thick, hearty texture and delicious earthy flavor, even carnivores won’t miss the meat with this choice. Brush yours liberally with a balsamic vinaigrette, top with crumbled goat cheese and start grilling. The red berry notes and lighter body of a good Pinot Noir will enhance the taste of any mushroom without overpowering.

Cheeseburger & Sangiovese Please

A backyard BBQ classic, you can’t go wrong with cheeseburgers. Topped off with lettuce, tomato, and onions, and you’ve got an instant winner. Word of warning: these smell so good on the grill, don’t be surprised if your neighbors swing by for an unannounced visit. With their big salty flavor, it’s best to pair with a high tannin wine like a bold Sangiovese.

Succulent Salmon Steaks & Rosé

Nothing enhances the rich flavors of salmon like an open flame. Marinate yours for at least 2 hours in soy sauce, brown sugar, and vegetable oil; then top with lemon pepper, garlic and salt. Place them skin side down on an oiled, medium-heat grill and you’ll be enjoying flaky, delicious salmon in less than ten minutes. Paired with a red rosé, those cherry and spice notes will add flavor while the higher acidity will cut through the heavier nature of this hearty fish.

Brats, Beer & Riesling

Sausage and beer may seem like soulmates (think Oktoberfest), but that doesn’t mean you can’t pair your favorite grilled bratwurst with something a little fancier. A good German or Austrian Riesling will do the trick beautifully. This works especially well if you’re topping your brat off with sauerkraut and spicy mustard. Pro tip: Simmer yours on the stovetop in beer, onions, and spices before finishing them on the grill. Yum! Drooling yet? It’s time to make that cookout a reality. Don’t forget to pick up some classic sides like chips, fruit salad, and coleslaw. And some fun non-alcoholic drinks for those designated drivers, teetotalers, and kids on your invite list. The most important part is to get out there and have some fun with the ones you love!
