Less "Taxing Times" at Home
Now that you’re done sorting through a year’s worth of expenses, filling out IRS forms, and all the other joys of tax season, it’s time to do some less “taxing” things like relax at home. With the weather outside turning to spring, the best place to unwind and de-stress is outside in your own backyard where you can nap, drink, read or just stare off that tax season taxation.
Below are some ideas for creating a perfect, non-taxing atmosphere in the privacy of your own backyard with little effort or cost. And some bigger ideas in case you are lucky enough to get a tax return.
• Nap nooks: You can always unwind by napping on a chaise outside in the middle of your yard. But the relaxation could be cut short when the hot sun bores down on you, and it could get your summer started off with the wrong kind of tan lines. A better option is to set up a pergola and create some cool shade for naps and other outdoor activities – playing games, reading books or picnicking on the grass.
• Effortless comfort: A hammock is always a sure bet for taking the weight of taxes off your entire body. Hammocks can be purchased at various price points from outdoor living stores, and set up in cozy places throughout your yard. Try putting one under a pergola for perfect napping, one on a stand on your patio, or strung between the trees for a more organic setting.
• Conversation pits: Give your family a great setting worth talking about itself, let alone spending hours together sharing stories and making memories. Think about using your tax return to build a conversation corner in your yard with a fire pit, water feature, and fragrant floral beds in a decorative stone setting.
For a small investment and from even just a few ideas, you can get many returns on your own outdoor spaces this tax season, and every day of the years to come in the privacy of your own home.
