Businesses might follow the rules of the Four P’s when it comes to marketing, and the Three C’s when it comes to personal conduct – character, courage, and commitment – but there’s nothing like the Three P’s for a great summer at home!
Summer’s Three P’s – Pools, Patios and Parties – are the perfect trio for any day of summer and can make parties easy and convenient well beyond Labor Day weekend. While you might not have time to come up with the perfect outdoor living system plans for this holiday weekend, it’s a great time to start planning ahead for next year.
Here’s some thoughts to help you get your party on this summer and well beyond:
Patios and pool decks:
Of course you don’t need pretty patios to enjoy time with your friends but it sure helps to have smooth, clean surfaces underfoot. A new interlocking paving stone patio is simple and fast to install and will create a level space for party activities, like dining, sitting, and even walking without the risk of tripping over tree roots cracks in concrete surfaces, and so on.
While you want to keep your pool decks open and easy to navigate, you can also create interesting and functional spaces on a larger paving stone surface. Add dividing walls to section off a fire pit, BBQ grill area, or a place to throw in some beanbags and relax in front of an outdoor TV. For a colorful flair, build flower beds atop your dividing walls, or build them as extra seating.
Around your pool area, consider multi-level or stepped tiers to create more space for chaises and towels, or build a little privacy for your pool. If space allows, why not build in a literal “wet” bar area so you can enjoy snacks and drinks poolside without ever getting out.
While there are thousands of ideas for outdoor parties, set a goal to do something different next year to make your Labor Day parties memorable. Like watching late night movies on your outdoor screens while floating in your pool? Or having a neighborhood putting contest on a new putting green? And of course, a BBQ grill-off is a great way to get guests to chip in on the food!
