Our backyard plans were progressing nicely, until we came to what the island top would be. Granite? Cement? Tile? Limestone? Marble? We've been all over the place with this issue and may finally be getting to an answer. And the reason this is significant is because the top can take a few weeks once ordered to be cut, finished and delivered.
Look at the picture above and tell me how I'm supposed to choose from the samples there. Everything starts to look the same after a while - it's like I'm snow blind. But I finally figured out the way to decide - I let my wife Kelly choose.
Look, I've been married almost 30 years now by 'getting along'.
What that means is, if something is important to Kelly I don't get in the way of it - and she's the same. I really only care about what I will cook on outside, but she cares about the overall look, and not the equipment. So I let her decide, which is awesome because she has a great style sense.
Me on the other hand - doesn't have a great style sense...as evidenced by the fact that sometimes I'll get dressed to go out and she'll look at me and say,"really, is that the right thing to wear?" And when she asks, it never is.
But here's the point: take your time deciding on equipment, finishes etc. And the people at System Pavers will tell you the same thing and be gentle with you as you go. Cuz once the work is done, it's done. And you don't want to make changes then.
