We’re coming into my favorite time of year – fall. And even though I live in San Diego where hardly anything actually ‘falls’ off the trees, I still love it. I especially love the cooler weather - it’s all good. I leave for yoga at 5:00am during the week and really appreciate a chilly morning. But a big part of me goes back to growing up in Vancouver, Canada and the weather there. Back then, when the leaves fell off the trees, you would collect them at the curb and burn them. And while that is of course seen as no bueno for the environment nowadays, I can shut my eyes and smell burning leaves and it makes me really happy. I also remember getting new clothes for the beginning of school - fall clothes. A lot of browns and navy’s…and a lot of corduroy.
But mostly I love the nights. After dinner…sitting outside with coffee or some version of coffee – with Kahlua, or scotch, with bourbon or whatever. Relaxing, maybe by a fire pit or just there. We like to hang out front with neighbors and enjoy the night. And if someone shows up with a little cake, a brownie or two or even some cookies – it’s a lovely time.
Remember – it’s the little things. It’s really the little things.
